Minster Neale Richmond welcomed the 2025/26 Ireland Fellows as they begin their studies in Ireland. The Ireland Fellows Programme supports 225 future leaders from 49 countries to study in universities across Ireland for one year. Build ing lasting relationships for the future. Delighted to see our wonderful Nigerian and Ghanaian students present and wish them well for their Masters Degree Programmes in Ireland.
Ambassador Ryan & Ms. Maryanne Tosin, Political & Economic Officer, met with HE Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy in Abuja for a timely and useful exchange on a range of topics, including a future visit by the Minister to Ireland & the planned visit to Nigeria later this year of Garry Connolly, Founder of Host in Ireland as part of the Embassy’s Economic Speakers Series.

The Embassy partnered with the Friends of Ireland in Nigeria to host the very first Cultúr Club for children aged 5-12. The children enjoyed an exciting morning of Irish storytelling, art, dance, music and sport at the Priory Preparatory School, hosted by Mrs. Alice Dina. Thanks to Ms. Aduke Gomez for her storytelling and to Nathan, Ronan and Colm, our visiting Irish musicians and dancer for making the Club so memorable for the children. Looking forward to many more such Cultύr Clubs. As we say at home - Mol and óige is tiocfaidh sí – Let the youth flourish.

Ambassador Ryan and Honorary Consul Guilfoyle hosted the annual Saint Brigid’s Day gathering at the Honorary Consul’s Residence in Lagos which was attended by a very special guest from Ireland, Susan Hayes Culleton, who visited Nigeria as part of Team Ireland’s Economic Speakers Series. At the gathering, Susan met with some great Friends of Ireland based in Lagos, sharing some insights from her work in Ireland and learning from them on the challenges and opportunities in Lagos.
