Ireland and Sustainable Finance Day, Lagos 2024
Ireland and Sustainable Finance Day, Lagos 2024

To mark Sustainable Finance Day 2024 and to support innovation by young people in Nigeria, Team Ireland partnered with the Financial Centre for Sustainability Lagos (FC4S) and the Nigeria Climate Innovation Centre (NCIC). We were delighted also to connect with our counterparts from Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden & the United States.
Thanks to Thessa Bagu, Representative of Enterprise Ireland in Nigeria, who joined the event and highlighted the benefits of enhanced Irish-Nigerian collaboration in tech innovation.
And a very special word of thanks to Elaine Delaney, MD/CEO of Quantum Fund Management Ltd, and the Friends of Ireland in Nigeria, who joined the Judging Panel for the SDG Hackathon and shared her experience and advice with the young finalists who had been selected from the 130+ applicants.
Reflecting the dynamism of the Nigerian tech sector, the applicants had an average age of 24 and the shortlisted 36 teams were selected for a bootcamp at the Nigerian Climate Innovation Center at the Lagos Business School.
In the Ambassador’s remarks at the event he emphasised Ireland's support for the UNDP's work in supporting the development and implementation of the Sustainable Finance Roadmap for Lagos. He recognised the leadership of Emmanuel Etadheri of FC4S and Bankole Oloruntoba of NCIC in building the industry expertise and in connecting closely with international partners, including Stephen Nolan the Dublin-based Managing Director and Head of Secretariat, UNDP FC4S.
